Bada-BING! Microsoft readies new search engine.

Nick Kastner on May 27, 2009

Microsoft’s current search engine, live.com, while not the worst search engine, may be being pushed to the wayside as recent reports indicate that Microsoft will introduce a new search engine late this week. There seems to be some online debate as to whether the new search engine will launch with the name Bing or possibly Kumo, but that should be decided at the formal announcement on Thursday. Currently, live.com receives roughly 10% of all searches done online, and was Microsoft’s hope of being their “Google” killer. This seems to be Microsoft’s next strike at Google and they will support the new engine with $80-$100 million in brand advertising.

We’re certain there will be more info to come but for now, there are a lot of questions as to how this new launch will affect Microsoft’s current search properties and if or how this might change the industry. Stay tuned for details. See the links below for more information.
